Chipotle Roseville Opens Today!

I just wanted to say thank you to all of the people who tipped me off to a new Chipotle store opening in Roseville, Minnesota. It appears as if my previous efforts may have influenced the opening of a Chipotle store right in my back yard. Today, October 26, 2007 marks the culmination of my being. To this point, I merely floated through life. Now that my purpose of bringing Potle to Roseville has been fulfilled, I feel that I can now say I have lead a meaningful life.

As for the opening ceremonies, I was hoping that I could be there at 11 AM for the store opening, but I also want to be there at 3 PM for the free shirt giveaway. Right now I’m leaning toward eating there twice.

Thanks to everyone who tipped me off to the store opening in Roseville. I actually learned about the store the first time when my friend Skaff called me about it way back in July. Since then, I have received random calls, emails and MySpace messages from people once or twice a week! There’s too many of you to mention on here, but thank you Kristi S, Erik K, Rachel S and Greg at Chipotlog.

Somehow my article was actually found by several visitors during the past year. I got support from so many random people that I am humbled by the response. To give you the idea of the power of the Internet, here is a timeline of how fast things have worked since I sent my letter to Chipotle.

  • December 19, 2006 – Wrote my opus called “Chipotle Roseville” and launched the site, http://www.chipotleroseville.com
  • December 19, 2006 – Sent an email to Chipotle that said:

    Hello,

I created a website devoted to trying to bring Chipotle to my community in Minnesota. The area is called Roseville. On the website, I make a strong case for why we need a Chipotle in Roseville. Please read and get back to me if you’d like more information.

  • January 3, 2007 – Received a reply from Joe, the Internet manager for Chipotle. He also CC’d 4 Chipotle employees in his response.

    Jeff,

Thank you very much for writing us, and we’ll check out Roseville for the future. Pretty good work on all that stuff, and I’ll forward it along to our real estate folks in your area for sure. I know people have requested Roseville before, and we hope to see you there someday, dear, dear friend.

    Sincerely,

    Joe

  • January of 2007 – Somehow the site chipotleroseville.com gets 47 unique visitors! Must have been my MySpace friends.
  • February 1, 2007 – A web site called “E-Democracy” comes across my web site and links to my Chipotle story. The person who made the site offered me a backhanded compliment, by saying:

A local blogger has done extensive research to determine that Roseville may be the worst location in the Twin Cities Metro region for someone hungry for a Chipotle burrito. This is worth checking out, if only to be amazed at the amount of research one individual has done in regard to what many of us would consider a pretty trivial matter (see multiple maps/diagrams).

Who is this guy calling Trivial? Chipotle is NOT TRIVIAL! Chipotle is my god given right! Anyway, for full context, you can read the full article here.

  • February 5, 2007 – I get mentioned in another blog called “the deets”. He even gives a word count to my article (2000+ words apparently). Check out the full article here.
  • April of 2007 – The site got 311 unique visitors for the month… I don’t even know 300 people!!
  • August of 2007 – My Search Engine Optimization skills must be paying off, because I am getting search traffic for the terms “Chipotle locations”, “Chipotle Restaurants” and “Chipotle Franchise Information”. If I actually had wanted to monetize this site, I probably could have made at least $2000 by now! I’m an idiot!
  • October 22, 2007 – More love from the blogosphere. This time, Greg at Chipotlog mentions me in an article.
  • October 26, 2007 – Chipotle opens in Roseville. The rest of my life begins.

There are probably more people who linked to the site, but my web stats package sort of sucks and didn’t provide that information.

The last thing I’m going to share with you are the stats for chipotleroseville.com. Somehow the site gets between 200-300 visitors every month. Pretty funny given that I wrote the article/web site with little to no expectations. I also get a ton of visitors from the search engines!

I also got a crapload of traffic from the search engines:
