Redington Shores, Florida - February 9 - 22, 2006

Below are pictures taken on my two week Sabbatical in the Tampa Bay area in Florida. I am specifically staying in an area named Redington Shores. It's probably not as action packed as you'd imagine. Think about it - in spite of all of this action, I've managed to post pictures just about daily, and I am keeping a diary of my experiences as well.

You can read anything you want about this trip in the Diary. On to the pictures...

My room for the fortnight. To this point, I have managed to resist moving the two beds together and making an ultimate double queen sized bed.

A close up of the bed that now has my suitcase sitting on it.

This is where the magic happens.

The Kitchen/Family Room area. Boring.

Me and my Aunt Connie, fresh off the plane on Thursday night. We look good for just having traveled thousands of miles.

An outside view from our condo. That's the Gulf of Mexico and a sweet white sand beach.

A little bit closer view of the Gulf. I can't wait to catch some waves brah!

From the other side of the balcony, the Inland waterway is within view. The condo is on a very thin piece of land separated by a lot of water. It's a pretty sweet location, although I'm sure that it's pretty scary durring hurricane season.

Who looks out of place in this picture? I do! I do!

The sister's Koch, although neither of these fair maidens are known by their maiden names...

The pier at Clearwater Beach.

A gigantic inflateable shark is eating a bunch of kids.

A weirdo puppeteer dressed in a Johnny Depp like brown suit. Add the long hair and a hat, and he's just like Johnny Depp! Well, other than the fact that Johnny Depp isn't a weirdo who plays with puppets.

Can you believe these two are sisters? I can too! Ladies and gentlemen, the lovely Frances (left) and Constance (right).

Me and Jimbo... kicking it old school. Actually, the kicking it old school part is currently in debate. New caption: Me and Jimbo... waiting for beer.

Franny, Connie and me in front of some big freaking fish.

A very blurry sunset. Don't look too closely, or your eyes will just hurt.

Self portrait with a blurry background... and three chins.

I had my camera all day Saturday, and didn't take a picture. After leaving the Winn-Dixie supermarket, I decided that I needed to take at least one shot to make it worthwhile. Here's a random photo I took...

It appears as if a car is parked illegially in a handicapped spot.

BUSTED!!!

My dinner for the night: the Mahi Mahi special. Mahi Mahi crusted in Proscuitto, served on top of a bed of spinach and garlic mashed potatoes, with a sauce of artichoke and some other shit.

Another view of the Mahi Mahi special, only with a european sex symbol in the background.

Jimmy and Franny, still going strong after 33 years. I think it has something to do with wearing clothing that is equally complimentary to each other... and the couch.

He's a straight shooter with middle management written all over him.

A self portrait of me and my mini faux hawk. I am pretty sure that I don't really have a double-chin, it just appears that way in every single picture ever taken of me.

I needed some new sunglasses, so I bought these bad boys. I had to take a side view of them, though, because I wanted to show off their true badassedness. Yeah, those are snakes. The mere sight of these sunglasses instill the emotions of fear and intrigue in you.

The sea was rough that day my friend. On Sunday it was really windy out. Here's a picture I took outside of the

A very blurry shot of the inside of the brochure for the Dali museum. If you try to read this, you will go blind.

A brochure for the Dali museum. I love the description "Time for Fun"! My thoughts exactly! Nothing says fun like an obscure collection of artwork from a famous surrealist painter. I love Dali, and seeing his artwork is interesting and thought provoking, but I'm hesitant to actually call the museum "fun".

A shot glass from the Dali museum. This is not to be confused with the shot glass I got at the Dirty Sanchez museum.

Scott and Liz at Shells in Redington Beach. Liz is pretty cool.

Co-Homeowners unite on the Gulf coast in Florida.

The inter-coastal waterway.

My new boat!

The objects in this picture are under water.

It takes remarkable photographic talent to catch such elegance in motion.

What do you want to do today? Soooo many options to choose from! What's that, you want to go to the bodies exibit found in the pamphlet on the lower center portion of this photo? You're serious? Well, I guess I would have never expected that to be your choice.

Brilliance.

Busted!

This sign reminded me of the time I went to watch the NCAA championship in 1991. Here I was, 10 years old, in the upper deck of the Metrodome watching Duke beat the crap out of Michigan. I leave my seat to get some confectionary genius and who do I see?? SINBAD! You know, the 80s sitcom star.

I think they should have just gone with "Reef", but I respect their decision.

I refused to get my hair cut here!

The average home value on gulf blvd in the Tampa area is probably around $800,000. That's why it's strange to walk by a house with a MAILBOX THAT IS A FISH.

YOU ARE!!

Bob's auto service is located right on the Gulf of Mexico. At least Bob has an excuse for ripping you off on your auto service: escalating property taxes.

The Tampa Tribune: Life. Printed Daily.

Here is what the busses look like on Gulf blvd.

We stayed at Angler's Cove.

Right across the street from Angler's Cove is a placed named "sculptured bodies". Are my parents trying to tell me something?

The setting sun on the Angler's Cove fishing pier... a beautiful picture.

Are you satisfied, ladies? Now please, stop sending photo requests to see my dad in a hot tub!

I really do!

DON'T DO IT!

If you had to choose, would you go with Florida's best newspaper, or Life. Printed Daily? Yeah, it's a no-brainer.
